The newlyweds, along with the Countess’s sinister brother, retreat to a grand, decaying palace in Venice. Shortly after, Lord Montbarry dies under highly suspicious circumstances, leaving behind an enormous insurance fortune and a palace that is quickly converted into a luxury hotel. But a horrific crime has been committed within those ancient walls, and the physical evidence may be gone, but the spiritual residue remains.

Years later, the surviving members of the Montbarry family—driven by an unsettling, unseen pull—happen to book rooms at the newly opened Venetian hotel. They soon discover that Room 14 B holds a suffocating, supernatural weight. It is not a place of traditional ghosts, but of psychological madness, agonizing nightmares, and a phantom stench of decay that drives its occupants to the brink of insanity.
